MICHAEL IAN BLACK is an actor, comedian, and author who began his career with The State, a sketch comedy troupe he co-created in college, which went on to have a successful run on MTV. Michael then co-created the television shows Viva Variety, Stella, and Michael and Michael Have Issues. For four seasons, he starred as Phil Stubbs on the NBC show Ed. Michael was heavily featured on VH1's I Love the... series. He starred in Wet Hot American Summer, as well as the new Netflix television series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. He currently appears on the Comedy Central series Another Period and The Jim Gaffigan Show on TV Land. Michael has starred on many other television shows and movies.
Michael has written several books, both for children and adults. He also is a popular podcaster, who hosts How To Be Amazing as well as Mike and Tom Eat Snacks with Tom Cavanagh and Topics with Michael Showalter.
Michael regularly tours the country as a stand-up comedian, releasing two stand-up albums: I Am A Wonderful Man, and Very Famous.
He lives in the wilds of Connecticut with his wife and two children.
